Human rights and HIV/AIDS

PDFPrintE-mail

Prior to 2007 in Mongolia, HIV issues were articulated as purely and solely health issues, ignoring the host of socio-legal issues that do arise because of one's HIV status. To complement the work of the organisations, both government and non-government, some founders of the LGBT Centre initiated a network of NGOs working on HIV issues and organised in January 2007 a conference on Human Rights and HIV/AIDS, funded by the UNDP Mongolia. You can read the recommendations issued by the conference, pre-conference round-table discussion paper, and the 12 abbreviated international human rights standards in HIV/AIDS (available only in Mongolian. The website of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has the full document).
