Rainbow flag is one of the LGBT pride symbols. But did you know that there is an international day dedicated to this flag? Since 25 June 1978 when the flag flew in the Castro Street, San Francisco, USA, during the LGBT Freedom Parade Day, it has been marked as the International Rainbow Flag Day.

From its original eight colours, the flag has now reincarnated into now globally used six colours. Some say that the designer of the flag, Gilbert Baker, based his design after Judy Garland's song "Over the rainbow", while others claim that he developed the design after the world peace flag of red, black, brown, yellow and white signifying the whole human kind that used to be flown in the campuses around the US in the 1960s. Whatever the origin, the flag is now universal LGBT pride symbol signifying diversity. Wear your pride visibly on 25 June.
